Table Rock Trail
The Table Rock Trail in Eagle, Idaho is closed for the winter season. The closure will go into effect on Wednesday, December 22, and is expected to last until the second week of March. After the trail dries and the risk of damage from muddy conditions subsides, it will reopen for public use. While the trail is closed, the Old Penitentiary Trailhead will remain open. There are a number of scenic viewpoints along the trail, including a view of the mesa walls. While hiking the trail, you’ll often see hawks flying overhead.

The Boise Department of Parks and Recreation has reached an agreement with the Idaho Department of Lands to manage sensitive open space near the Table Rock Trail. The agreement also gives the Boise Department of Parks and Recreation the authority to close the Old Pen Trail, which leads to the Table Rock Trail. This will keep the Table Rock Trail open during the winter months.
3 Horse Ranch Vineyards
In 2000, Martha and Gary Cunningham planted noble grape vines in the Sawtooth Range, near Boise, Idaho. Today, their vineyard is Idaho’s largest family-owned winery. Located in the scenic Eagle Foothills district in the Snake River Valley Appellation, 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards invites guests to experience Idaho’s thriving wine industry.
3 Horse Ranch Vineyards is located about 17 miles from downtown Eagle and 43 minutes from downtown Boise. The winery is easily accessible by taking Highway 16 north and continuing on Chaparral Rd. After a few miles, you’ll arrive at the Tasting Room. From there, you’ll be able to continue driving north, and then take N. Eagle Rd to Willow Creek Rd.
In addition to the winery itself, 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards also features a new restaurant and winery. The newly opened Ranch House restaurant will feature a signature winery tour, as well as an exclusive cellar tasting. The Ranch House features artisan cheese and charcuterie, as well as personal pour service. This is an ideal setting to enjoy the wines and the incredible views of the Eagle Foothills AVA.
Camel’s Back Park
Camel’s Back Park is an urban park in Boise, Idaho. Managed by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department, the park features play areas, picnic tables, an outdoor gym, and volleyball and tennis facilities. While there are plenty of activities to do in the park, you can also enjoy a picnic or relax on a bench and watch the sun set over the city.
The park recently reopened after a multi-year restoration. One of the first improvements was the addition of new stairs that would help prevent erosion of the hill. Many young hikers took advantage of the new feature on Tuesday. William Becklund, one of the hikers, suggested sliding with his feet, while Toby Norton said that erosion on the hill is due to wind, rain, and traffic. Additional restoration work will include planting shrubs and trees that will help stabilize the soil.
The park is located at 1200 W. Heron St., which turns into 13th Street. It was originally a private property, but public donations eventually paid for the development of the park. The park was officially dedicated in 1965. A portion of the park was used for playground equipment, but that was removed in the 1980s due to safety concerns. The park was then restored to its hilly shape, and today serves as a community park and recreational space.

IDAHO Botanical Garden
The Idaho Botanical Garden is a nonprofit organization located on 50 acres in Boise, Idaho. This site was formerly the nursery and farm for the Old Idaho State Penitentiary. The garden has an amazing collection of plants and is a great way to spend a day outdoors.

Eagle Island State Park
